503 valid RCPT command must precede DATA

Email can be a beast. Sometimes there's no rhyme or reason for email to suddenly stop working. Such was the case recently for a client after having several successful emails sent received all morning - email abruptly stopped working. Sending to people from within the company was working, receiving email was working, but sending to other individuals outside their network was causing 503 errors.
