Niche Blog Evangelists

It seems like just about every niche is covered by a blog. Some niches have dedicated blog evangelists. The advantage of the variety of blog publishers out there is that you can get nearly instant access to readership. As traditional marketing continues to change, users online are taking more and more control over freedom of speech. Press releases can be freely distributed, products reviewed, and opinions shared about business is all freely posted and indexed online (good or bad). Any... read more!

The Idea Seed

The old adage of "nothing comes from nothing" is a very true statement and especially true of telling a story. There has to be some kind of foundation, some kind of bedrock to build the rest of your production on. Have you noticed how successful Pixar is at creating animated films? Is it because of the eye-popping visuals? The celebrity voice work? The stellar sound mixing? All of these things contribute, but it's attention to the screenplay before one frame gets created that has put Pixar at th... read more!

Can you Really Search Forclosures for Free?

There's a piece of me that enjoys researching investment opportunities. I especially find myself delving into short term investments with quick turn over possibilities. These types of investments usually require a bit of capital - but the return can be substantial if you play your cards right. One type of investment that has always been difficult to get into is the bank owned forclosure market. I know for a fact that banks loose money for every day a foreclosed home sits on the market. So why is... read more!

Server Rack Rails

Almost every time you purchase a server to put in a rack, you will need to purchase rack rails in addition in order to complete your installation. Rack rails mount on the rack itself and then attach to the server to hold the server in the rack. There are some different rack types, you may have a two post or a four post. This is why the rack rails are sold separately from the server. When you purchase the rails, I highly suggest getting quick mount rails that slide. It makes installation a breeze... read more!

Putting Social Media to Work

Websites provide an entirely new way of marketing. Those who keep up with the latest web trends have an advantage in the market. At LunaWebs we're alway exploring new trends. I read an article by David Meerman Scott recently. He revealed this idea of being a "Thought leader," or voicing one's knowledge and opinion through various communication methods online (forums, wikis, blogs, videos, and podcasts). As a website provides a quality one-on-one experience with relevant content, a relationship ... read more!

Spell Domain Names Correctly, Please

A lesson I learned recently was that when sending someone to a website you've had a part in, it pays to avoid gimmicky spellings. Sure, you may easily find that strange spelling available for purchase, but passing it on will be a chore. If you say "go to Dogs.com" everyone will remember it. If you say, "go to Dogz.com--that's Dogs with a 'z'" you're going to lose people searching for you, especially if they heard the name from a third party. It's even worse when you have to spell out the entire ... read more!

Compatibility in Internet Explorer 8

Microsoft has out done them selves again. Web developers all over the world are just now beginning to make all their sites look "correct" in IE7, and now MS had dropped a bomb on all of us in the form of IE8. You would think they would stay somewhat consistent with how they render content across the different releases. But of course they dont... Classic Microsoft. They claim they are just following the CSS 2.1 standards... Yeah sure. I don't know why they do this to us. Luckily they left us with... read more!

Mac Tips - Put the Brakes on Shutdown

It's the end of the day and you are shutting down your computer... But wait! You forgot to send that email. What do you do? Well you actually have a little over 5 seconds to hit the brakes before you computer shuts down. The fastest way to stop it from shutting down is to click a fast loading program in your dock. On the left side of my dock I have iCal and the right side I keep TextEdit. Either one works great for those "I forgot" moments. ... read more!
