Target Your Viral Marketing

Viral marketing is a hot topic in the business arena. A true definition continues to be disputed. The originality of the term implies a contagious virus influence. In marketing, it would suggest a self promoting message passed along by people through word of mouth. Truly creating the perfect spark to a viral message with a reaction from your target market is an art. The genius of this creates an ideal solution for any business. It is cost-effective, testimonial driven, and influences you... read more!

Basic Illustrator Effects: Arrowheads

One of the most basic and easily overlooked effects in Adobe Illustrator is the arrowhead effect. You may not need an arrow everyday, but when you do you will be happy you read this. Off the Cuff

This week we started shooting a show that challenges people to do goofy (but not degrading) things in exchange for a one dollar bill. The first episode was fun and entertaining. As the cameraman, I had a silly grin on my face the entire time. The strength of this format is, of course, the spontaneity of others. You can't predict what people will do, but often the results are quite funny and sometimes hysterical. "Candid Camera" (which began on TV in the late 40's) was probably the earliest incar... read more!

SBA’s Impact for Entrepreneurs

According to sba.gov: "The SBA received $730 million in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Recovery Act) to help unlock the small business lending market and get much needed capital flowing again to America's small businesses. php string replace vs regex

For all you budding php developers out there who are now experimenting with regular expressions and data clean up, I advise you think twice before using regex over a simple str_replace. If you are performing complex string replacements regex is the best choice and will give you a performance boost over using many str_replace ( and other functions ) in place of using one regular expression. There have been tests showing that using multiple preg_replace functions in a row can perform better than u... read more!

The Power of Collaboration

Recently an interesting phenomenon took place on YouTube. A group of popular YouTubers banded together to form a channel called "The Station". The first video teaser for their show (which appears to be a sketch comedy show) was an instant hit. Why? Since each participant was already heavily viewed and subscribed to, they simply posted a link at the end of their most recent video to that teaser. It seems simple math that a video can easily generate one million views if ten or so videos that get t... read more!

Strategic Landing Page(s)

I recently reviewed some research by Engine Ready that provided good evidence of impactful landing pages. The research was backed by 20.8 million total visits and 108 million page views. The results focusing on paid and organic searches intrigued me. Visitors through paid searches have a slightly better conversion rate and are worth 41% more in value (sales revenue divided by number of visits) than organic searches. Drawing conversion with your website is simply a result of giving th... read more!

Slow and Steady Motion

Earlier this week I wrote a post about how to achieve really nice slow motion on a video camera, an effect that usually looks terrible. Good slo-mo is now a reality, but so what? Do we really need it? Isn't it just another gimmick we can live without? Slow motion has been around probably as long as the moving image itself. Someone (probably Edison, who invented the movie camera) figured out that if you shoot more frames than normal, then play them at regular speed, everything slows way down. Cal... read more!
