php 6 - looking to the horizon

In reviewing articles from the net, it looks like some of the most major changes to come about in php 6 revolve around the removal of old deprecated and bad practice items such as magic_quotes, register globals, $HTTP_*_VARS, asp style tags and many other items.

This comes as great news to me, I follow good practice in not using those items but have become weary of seeing bad practices used so much in the wild and will be happy to start to see them disappear. I know that php 6 will be quite far off as far as adoption, as people are really only starting to heavily use php 5, but it is still a bright future.
