Passwords, friend or foe

I am a big proponent of secure passwords, but even I use some passwords for two or more applications. There are just too many applications requiring a password these days, how can one manage all of them. Well you can always use a password manager that encrypts all passwords based on one master password, you can try and remember them all, or you can reuse some passwords over and over for different systems.

Reuse of passwords is a bad security decision, if someone happens to guess or learn your password not only will they be able to get into the one application that they know your password for, they will most likely use it with other applications they know you use ( banks, email, forums, etc etc ) and if you have used the same password there, they now have compromised two logins instead of just the one.

So hear my plea, use a secure password, use a unique password per login and if necessary use a secure password manager if you just have too much to remember.
